Raíces Grandparents Kin-Care Program

Stress is a normal part of family life.  However, when grandparents must parent grandchildren due to parental absence, death, or incapacity, special stressors are present.  Grandparents must deal with a system that is far from responsive to their and their grandchildren’s needs as well as the stressors of parenting late in life.  Raíces’ Grandparents Kin-Care Program, at the Red Hook Senior Center, addresses these issues in a friendly and responsive atmosphere, including support groups, counseling, training, education, information and referral, socialization, recreation, and direct client assistance.
