The Raíces Healthy and Secure Computer Training Program began in November, 2009 at the Raices Times Plaza Senior Center and enables participants with no or limited knowledge of computers the opportunity to learn computer systems, desktop fundamentals, including MS Windows, the Desktop , MS Word, Electronic Mail, as well as  "Exploring the Internet" using the world wide web, Google.

Each ten week program includes an orientation, hands-on demonstrations, classroom training and training guides, two recitations and full use of the computer lab.  At the end of each 10 week period the enthusiastic students are quite excited of how much they've learned and absorbed in such a short period.

The program has been extremely successful, that in 2011 the program expanded to two additon sites (Red Hook Senior Center and Raíces Corona Senior Center, and will include many intermediate and advance features including scanning, portable date files (PDF), desktop publishing, additional security measures with electronic mail, the WWW and social network sites.

Additionally, many of the graduates have moved on and have purchased their own computers and have continued to attend workshops and orientations to discuss many topics.
